Chrome Asset Picker extension
The DAM Asset Picker extension seamlessly integrates your Scaleflex Digital Asset Management (DAM) library into your daily workflow. It allows you to select and upload assets directly from your DAM to any website, bypassing the need to download files to your local computer first.
Overview
Key capabilities:
Universal Interception: Automatically detects file upload buttons on websites.
Direct Integration: Select assets directly from your Scaleflex DAM.
Flexible Authentication: rigorous security with OAuth 2.0 or Security Templates.
Smart Filtering: Customize which sites the extension interacts with.
Prerequisites
To use this extension, ensure you have:
A Google Chrome browser (version 88 or later).
An active Scaleflex DAM account.
[Optional] Your DAM Token & Security Template ID if using the Security Template authentication.
Installation
Open the Chrome Web Store.
Search for "Scaleflex DAM Asset Picker" (or click here).
Click Add to Chrome.
Confirm the installation by clicking Add extension in the pop-up.

Tip: For quick access, pin the extension to your toolbar! Click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar, then click the pin icon next to "DAM Asset Picker".
Setup & Configuration
To use the extension, you need to connect it to your Scaleflex DAM account.
1. Access Settings
Click the DAM Asset Picker icon in your toolbar and select Settings.

Note that even if Connected, you can prevent the DAM Asset Picker to open by Globally Disabling it with the button accessible in that toolbar.
2. General Preferences
Customize how the extension behaves in the General Preferences tab.
Preferred Language: Choose the language for the DAM interface (default: Auto from browser).
Root Folder: Specify a default folder to open in the DAM widget (e.g.,
/marketing/assets).Excluded Domains: Add websites where you do not want the extension to appear (e.g., your company's internal tools). Separate domains with commas.

3. Authentication
Navigate to the Authentication tab in the settings page. You have two ways to connect:

Option A: OAuth 2.0 (Recommended)
This is the easiest and most secure method.
Click Login to DAM with OAuth.
A new window will open asking you to log in to your Scaleflex account.*
Grant permissions to the extension.
Once successful, the status will change to Connected (green dot in tab).
Note: the Scaleflex DAM OAuth 2.0 flow is a standard flow and does not require any additional configuration. It will allow you to connect using a secure email/password combination as well as various social accounts (Google, LinkedIn, etc.).
Option B: Security Template
Use this if you need to restrict access to a specific scope or do not want to use user credentials.
Enter your DAM Project Token.
Enter your Security Template ID.
Click Save & Validate.
Options for the DAM library

You can set your preferred default options when opening the Asset Picker, like:
default sorting
possibility to select and insert more than 1 asset
view type (grid or list)
Connection Status
The extension displays your connection status in two places:
Browser Toolbar
Hover over the DAM Asset Picker icon in your toolbar to see the current status:
"Asset Picker - Not configured" - Open Settings to set up authentication.
"Asset Picker - OAuth connection" - You're logged in and ready to use the extension.
"Asset Picker - Security Template" - Using Security Template authentication.
"DAM session expiring soon" - Your session will expire soon. Click to renew.
"DAM session expired" - Please log in again to continue.
Popup Window
Click the extension icon to see a detailed status view:
Green dot - Connected and ready.
Orange dot - Session expiring soon (within 5 minutes).
Red dot - Session expired or not configured.
Session Management
When using OAuth authentication, your session is automatically renewed in the background every 55 minutes. If automatic renewal fails (e.g., due to network issues), you'll see the "Session expired" status. Simply click the extension icon and log in again to refresh your session if it expired.
When using Security Template, your session is automatically created every time you open the widget, using the saved credentials you provided in settings.
Using the Extension
Uploading Files
Navigate to any website with a file upload feature (e.g., Slack, File converter, WordPress, etc.).
Click the Upload or Attach File button on the website.
The extension will intercept the click and show you a choice:
Local File: Opens your computer's standard file browser.
DAM Library: Opens the Scaleflex DAM widget.

Select DAM Library.
Browse or search for your asset in the modal window.
Select the file and click Insert.
The file will be automatically uploaded to the website as if it came from your computer.

Drag & Drop Support
You can also use drag and drop zones to upload files from the DAM!
Place your pointer over a supported drop zone on a website.
The extension will highlight the drop zone.
Click the zone to trigger the upload choice menu.
Troubleshooting
Extension not appearing on click? Ensure you are not on an Excluded Domain. Check your settings to verify, and that the page offers a standard "upload" button (it might not catch a custom javascript based upload).
Login failing? If using OAuth, ensure your browser allows pop-ups for the authentication window. If using Security Templates, verify that your Token and Template ID are correct and the template is active in your DAM dashboard.
Widget not loading? Check your internet connection. If the issue persists, try reloading the page or reconnecting your account in the Settings. And if still not working, try to disable the extension and then enable it again. Finally, look for other extensions that might be conflicting with the DAM Asset Picker (pop up blockers, etc.).
