Lists

Turn text into numbered, bulleted, tick, cross or warning lists.

Lists break a long passage into points a visitor can scan. The inline editor offers five styles, including tick, cross and warning markers for do-and-don't guidance.

The List menu in the inline toolbar, with its five styles.

Add a list

  1. Select the lines you want to turn into a list. Each line becomes one item.

  2. Select List in the toolbar.

  3. Choose a style from the menu.

The style currently applied to your selection is ticked. Choosing it again turns the list back into plain paragraphs.

Numbered list

1, 2, 3

Steps that happen in order.

Bulleted list

Dot

Points with no particular order.

Tick list

Green tick

What's included, or what you recommend.

Cross list

Red cross

What isn't included, or what to avoid.

Warning list

Amber triangle

Caveats and things to watch out for.

Tick and cross lists work well side by side, a do-and-don't pair in two columns, for example.

Leave a list

Press Enter on an empty list item. The empty item becomes a normal paragraph and the list ends.

Lists are available on paragraph text, not on headings. Change the text level to a paragraph if the List button isn't there.
