View options

Configure how assets are arranged and displayed on the screen.

View options controls how the assets are laid out, the order they start in, and which controls visitors get.

The View options panel: layout, gap size and the order assets start in.
The same panel scrolled down, to the rest of the toggles and Assets per page.

Layout

Option
Shows assets as

Grid

Even tiles, all the same size. Best when the assets are similar and the set should look orderly. The default.

List

One asset per row, with room for more detail beside each. Best when visitors are reading information, not just looking.

Mosaic

Tiles that keep each asset's own proportions. Best for mixed portrait and landscape imagery.

Gap size

The space between assets: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large. Tighter gaps suit dense sets of thumbnails; wider gaps give a small, curated selection room to breathe. Medium by default.

Sort and Sort direction

Sort sets the order assets start in — by Created, Modified, Name, Size or Format — and Sort direction sets whether that runs Ascending or Descending. New galleries start on Modified, Descending, so the most recently changed assets come first.

This is only the starting order. Visitors can re-sort the gallery from the toolbar, unless you've turned the toolbar off.

Show toolbar

The toolbar is the row above the assets. It holds the search field, the Variation and Sorting by dropdowns, the sort-direction and regional-settings controls, the layout toggle, and the cart.

Turn it off to hide that whole row. Use it for a gallery you've already curated — a set of brand assets in a deliberate order, say — where you'd rather visitors looked at what you chose than searched and re-sorted it.

The Filters button is not part of the toolbar and stays visible when the toolbar is hidden. Visitors can still filter the gallery; they just can't search it, re-sort it, or change its layout.

Show toolbar is on by default, and galleries built before this setting existed keep their toolbar.

Display tabs

Shows the gallery's tabs, so visitors can move between the groups you defined. Turn it off to present the assets as one uninterrupted set.

This appears only when the gallery is in Sections display mode — the other modes have no tabs to show — and never on an Asset gallery page.

Allow assets for download

Lets visitors download assets from the gallery. On by default. Turn it off for a gallery meant for viewing only: a look-book, or a preview of work in progress.

Enable sharing

Lets visitors share an asset by creating a link to it, which works for people who can't open your Portal. On by default. Turn it off when assets shouldn't travel beyond the audience you granted access to.

Show embed button

Shows the Embed button in the asset details view, which lets visitors copy CDN links. On by default. Useful when your audience builds pages of their own with your assets; unnecessary for a gallery people only browse.

Allow searching by tags

Makes the tags in the asset preview clickable; selecting a tag filters the gallery down to assets carrying it. Off by default. It gives visitors a quick way into a large, well-tagged set without opening the filters panel.

Search suggestions

Suggests search terms while visitors type, and shows related terms under the results. Off by default.

It earns its place on a large, varied gallery, where a visitor often doesn't know the word your assets are filed under — the suggestions do the guessing for them. On a small set it just gets in the way of a search box nobody needed.

Suggestions only work when the gallery draws on everything: every source has to be All assets, or a root folder with sub-folders included. A gallery narrowed to one folder or a label has too small a vocabulary to suggest from, and the feature stays quiet.

Expand filters by default

Opens the filters panel as soon as the gallery loads. When off — the default — filters stay collapsed behind the Filters button.

Turn it on for a large gallery where narrowing down is the first thing anyone will want to do. On mobile the panel always starts collapsed, whatever you choose here.

The setting isn't offered in Collections display mode. That gallery opens on the collections tree, which takes the one sidebar slot there is, and its filters only appear once a visitor drills into a group's assets — so there's no "on load" for them to expand into.

Pagination, and how many assets load

The last control changes with the switch above it.

Pagination off — the default — loads the gallery as one continuous run, and Asset limit to load sets how many assets that run holds: 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 or 2000. New galleries load 100.

Pagination on splits the assets across numbered pages, and the control becomes Assets per page: 10, 32, 75, 150 or 300. Switching pagination on starts you at 32.

Smaller pages load faster and suit galleries visitors scan deliberately. Larger pages suit browsing, where stopping to turn a page interrupts the eye.
